This calculator is flexible and easy to use.    Not to mention cost effective.   Practical applications for SDC-XP include Critical and Emergency, Pre and Post Op, and general practice treatment rooms.

High degree of  accuracy.  Numeric values are defined as double-precision floating point  integers.   Rounded numbers are not used, therefore real results are displayed.  Trailing zeros are not displayed, but still used in calculations.   For a simple understanding, accuracy is 10 to the 208th power.

Sync provides a bell calibrated to the 1 drop every <calculated seconds> calculation.  Check sync and 1 drop should fall at the sound of each bell.   This provides the highest degree of accuracy as noted with the mathematical output.  To increase accuracy even more, set your system default sound to be ding.wav.   Accuracy is +/- 1.2 nanoseconds.

Any calculation that requires the use of a dosage range, will use the center of that range.  In some cases normal values are shown as reference.  Defaults are set whenever it makes sense to do so.  Again, any default setting will be centered with in any range.

A reminder box is used for the Dextrose Solution calculation.  In order to retain accuracy, you must subtract the calculated value from the fluids, then replace it with the calculated value of the Dextrose solution.  Using the above picture.  You will remove 32.5 ml of whatever fluids.  You will then replace 32.5 ml with a 50% Dextrose solution.

The pill counter is a simple pill counter that will calculate how may pills will be given total.  In the photo above, the order is for 250mg.  The pills come in 125mg concentration.  A total of 2 pills is required to meet the order.   The frequency is BID for 10 days.  A total of 4 pills is required for each day.  A total of 40 pills is required over a 10 day period.  This is as far as I am willing to go counting pills.

Oxyglobin uses two different calculations due to it's characteristics.  Oxyglobin has a dosage calculation of 30ml/kg.  For a 10kg animal, this would be 300ml.  However, Oxyglobin is infused at a rate of 10ml/kg/24 hours.  For a 10kg animal this would be 4.16.  The way to understand this is thus.  A total volume of 300ml, infused at a rate of 4.16ml/hr over a 24 hour period.  Set your fluid pump's Total Volume To Be Infused to 300, Infusion Rate at 4, and press start.

There are three ways you can have SDC-XP customized to your practice.  You may choose to build SDC-XP yourself, hire a third party programmer, or hire the author to preform any custom modification you require.  Calculations can be added or subtracted PRN.  The software will always remain free, only charges for labor may be collected IAW the GNU General Public License.  SDC's flexibility is limited only by your imagination.

Step 2 - Download SDC

SDC Download

Please do not forget to read the notes before downloading for important release information.

SDC-XP comes in two different forms.

SDC-XP-Binary.zip:  Contains only SDC, the dependencies, and the setup/install programs.  This is the file to download if you do not want to build anything.  Just run the program.  You may run this program under the authority of the GNU General Public License.   So make many copies and send them to your friends.  Your free to do so.  Once downloaded, open the the SDC-XP-Binary folder and double click on the SDC icon.  This will begin the installer.

SDC-XP-Source.zip:  Contains everything to this project.  SDC, Source code, setup/installer source,  the whole thing.  When unzipped, about 20 mb or so is used.  Microsoft Visual Basic.NET Standard edition or better is required to build SDC.  No other forms of source code are supported at this time.  You may use this source code under the authority of the GNU General Public License.   Make many custom copies and give them to your friends.  Your free to do so.  Keep us posted on what you do, more people may be able to benefit.
